Adventures of Darth Kail

Hello people!  So, as you probably don’t know because I don’t think I ever wrote about him, my favorite character in WildStar is Darth Kail, the badass Mordesh Engineer!  So, I have lately decided to start writing stories about him.  I have the first five done, and I will post them once a week.  Here’s the first one, enjoy!

The Raid of Deradune

Book one of the Adventures of Darth Kail

It was a warm day when they called him in.  One of the heroes of the Exiles, they thought he was well-suited for the job.  FCON was planning an attack, and they thought they couldn’t win without him.  Kail Kasparoff, known to his friends as Darth Kail, and to most as Agent Kasparoff.  When he got the call on his comlink, he went as fast as he could.

When he arrived, they were waiting for him.  “There you are,” said General Stonebreaker.

“And wondering what the rush is,” replied Kail.

“We’re planning an attack,” answered Deadeye Brightland.  “It’ll give us a foothold against the Dominion.”

“And where will this attack be?”
“Deradune,” repled Stonebreaker.

“The desert?”

“The very same.”

“I know of this place.  Draken territory, practically owned by Clanlord Makaza.”

“Well…  We want you to help in the attack.”

“I gathered.”

“You’ll be leading about 150 men.”

“When do we start?”

Two weeks later

“Alright, men,” says Kail, yelling to be heard over the fighters.  “You know your mission.  Secure a foothold in Deradune, and hold the position until FCON sends more men to claim it for the Exiles.  From there, we move until we can secure Deradune and kill Clanlord Makaza.  When you are ready, board the fighters.  And one more thing…  There won’t be any holo-crypts…  So try not to die.”

Deradune

“Anyone dead?”

“No, sir.”

“Good,” Kail answers.  “Listen up!” he says, yelling now to be heard, “Looks like we’re about 3 kilometers from the Feralplain Collective.  If you read the brief, you know that is where the Chua work.  We will attack there, and when FCON drops the reinforcements, move south to Bloodfire Village.  We will take the route to the southwest, as they will not expect that.”

They walk until they can see the Collective, and Kail calls “Stop!”.  No one knows why.  “We will rest, for 30 minutes.  Check your armor, weapons.  Get some food.  We leave when I say.”

“Yes, sir!”

Thirty Minutes Later

“Let us go.”  They walk across the desert.  When they are within 5 minutes of the Collective, someone yells “Snipers!” and soldiers start falling.  “Where are our snipers?” asks Kail.  “If they are not dead, get to cover and fight back!”  About 25 men run to cover behind rocks, trees, Granoks, anything they can find.  The rest of them run into battle.  Kail’s Bruiserbot jumps onto a guard, and, using its legs as claws, rips him to pieces.  Then, Kail follows his Bruiserbot, making a bigger trail of Dominion bodies.

“TANKS!” calls a soldier.  He’s not wrong, and from around the corner, come three tanks.  Almost all soldiers ignore the Dominion men and start firing at the tanks.  “No!  Attack the infantry!” commands Kail.  “Stone, Karavax, Johnson, start firing on those tanks!  The rest of you, when they stop shooting at you, help us!”  The commands are executed to the letter.  “Karavax is down!” calls Stone.  “Take cover!” commands Kail.  Something flies through the air, and there is a cacophonous explosion.  A tank’s cockpit goes flying into the air, and lands about 50 feet away from its original position.  Another is so badly damaged that after a few shots from the remaining soldiers, it too is destroyed, though without a tremendous explosion.  The third is damaged, but not enough to not be a threat.  “Divert all fire to the tank!” yells Kail.  “I want it destroyed!”  Within five minutes, the Exiles have taken control of the Feralplain Collective.  “Nice work.  Check your weapons, repair your armor, heal the wounded, and eat.  We leave as soon as FCON secures this place.”  As Kail is going around, ensuring that the orders are being followed, he notices something.  A spark, coming out of his Repairbot.  It was shot by a Chua.  “Come, R3, I will repair you.”

“Look!” calls a soldier.  “Drop pods!”

“Good.  I will meet them.  Barkfield, with me.”

The drop pods are indeed Exiles, and when they open, Durek Stonebreaker is in the first one.

“General,” says Kail, saluting.  “I assume your presence means that I am relieved of command?”

“Nope,” says Stonebreaker.  “I’m leading a different attack.  We will head east, to the gates of Illium.  You’ll still take the Village, though.”

While they are talking, they see about 30 soldiers coming.  “There they are!  They’ll hold this position so you can move on.”

“Understood.  We will leave now.”

They walk until dusk.  After that, they stop to eat and rest.  They set up camp, and after a while, Kail and a few other soldiers go out to scout while there is still daylight.  After a while, they come to a huge cage.  “What the [BLEEP] is that?” asks one of the soldiers.  The cage starts opening, and they don’t have time to run.  Out comes a giant beast, with metal covering it.  “Is it a robot?” asks an Aurin.  “No, it is augmented,” answers Kail.  “Cover me.  I can deactivate it.”  He pulls out a device, and opens it.  He hears the beast roar, and gunfire.  He flips open the circuits, and connects some wires.  “Hurry up!” yells a soldier.  “We can’t hold him much longer!”

“Is it the red switch or the blue one…?”

“NOW!” yells a soldier.

“Forget it,” says Kail, flipping the red switch and throwing the device.  It lands under Metal Maw, as the soldiers have started calling it, and electricity zaps out of the device, into the beast.  It gives a terrible roar, and the augmentations seem to absorb the electricity, effectively supercharging the beast.  “I suppose it was the blue switch,” he mumbles.  “RETREAT!” he yells.  The soldiers run, the beast chasing them the whole way.  They abandon the Collective, and run for the original landing point, only to find it overrun with Chua.  They turn to each other, and call for Durek on the comms.  “Through no fault of my own, there is a supercharged beast running through Deradune.  We will try and get it back in the cage, but you had best call for extraction.”  They all run back to the cage, and herd it in.  Then they start firing at the cage door, and just as the beast is about to get out, the door falls on it.  They return to Feralplain Collective, where Exile fighters are waiting to extract them.  They climb in, and return to Thayd.

Back in Thayd

The news of the attack spreads quickly.  Exiles all over Nexus are wondering about the beast that has been officially dubbed Metal Maw.  Kail’s official report says that he expects that 20 well-armed soldiers could bring it down, and that 10 might be able to if they flip the blue switch, though he will not explain that part.

Marvel Heroes 2016: Character Poll

Marvel Heroes fans, Advance Pack III is coming!  Head over to Game Informer to vote for Green Goblin a member of Advance Pack III.  Here’s the list of choices:

Green Goblin

One of Spider-Man’s greatest enemies, vote for Norman Osborn.

Ms. Marvel (Kamala Khan)

The new Ms. Marvel… Don’t know much about her…  She’s like a glorified version of Mister Fantastic, to be honest.

Miles Morales

Another Spider-Man… This time the ultimate universe one though.

Angela

Used to be a Guardian, full name: Angela Odinsdottir

Gamora

The deadliest woman alive.  Adopted daughter of Thanos, and member of the Guardians.  If they make a movie costume for her, there might be a movie Gamora team-up.

Wasp

Janet Van Dyne, founding member of the Avengers, married to Hank Pym.

Pretty good choices…  It was hard to choose between Gamora and Green Goblin for me.  So, what are you waiting for?  Vote Green Goblin for your favorite today!

Hell.. It’s About Damn Time!

OMG!

Finally!  The StarCraft 2 Story.. is finally getting it’s last chapter… Legacy of the Void will release on November 10th!

And, as is typical for Blizzard…. the Cinematic… is flipping AWESOME!

I still feel Blizzard should have released this as originally announced.. one game, not three..and it’s taken them WAY to long between chapters.. but I am TOTALLY psyched to get this last chapter in my hot little hands for some Zerg stomping good times!

The bad thing about this release?  It’s the same day Fallout 4 streets…which means.. I need more hours in the day!  Two long awaited sequels..streeting the same day… someone didn’t do their market research before picking a date!

Gamescom Cantina Codes

Not much SWTOR news out of Gamescom.. Dulfy has what little has been put out for the two Q&A sessions that were held at the Community Cantinas.. Doesn’t look like much new info.. still no new MMO content announced for the expansion.. everything is still focused on the Single Player aspect.

As with all recent cantinas, there are codes given out to give a mount, and a random item.  Here’s two codes if you need one to use.  Not sure how many time they can be used.

They are only good for 60 days.. so click quick!

This morning, the fine folks over at Harebrained Schemes (The guys who did the amazing ShadowRun Returns games) announced (at GenCon) that they’re working on a new BattleTech/MechWarrior Turn Based Strategy game.

It's coming....soon! To a KickStarter near you.

It’s coming….soon! To a KickStarter near you.

Reading the description provided by HBS:

TACTICAL ‘MECH
COMBAT RETURNS TO THE PC.

Harebrained Schemes is pleased to announce their return to Kickstarter this Fall to partner with Backers in co-funding the creation of BATTLETECH. Jordan Weisman, the creator of BattleTech and MechWarrior, is back with the first turn-based BattleTech game for PC in over two decades. Steeped in the feudal political intrigue of the BattleTech universe, the game will feature an open-ended Mercenaries-style campaign that blends RPG ‘Mech and MechWarrior management with modern turn-based tactics.

I’d first, point out that failed or not.. MechWarrior Tactics was less than two decades ago (but, I guess since it never made it out of closed beta, it probably doesn’t count).  My second thought, was whether or not HBS is re-using the MWT codebase, or starting from scratch.

I’ve tried to find out (via email, and twitter), but so far, I haven’t received a response.

There was confirmation from PGI (MechWarrior Online’s Developer) that they have reached an agreement with HBS to share art assets, bringing a ‘unified’ look to the MechWarrior computer game ‘franchise’ for the first time in age.

This little tidbit, also tells us that the new HBS game won’t be sit in the 3025 era (like MWT was), but will instead be in the Clan War era, where MWO is set.  Little sad, because that was one of my favorite things about MWT, since I felt the 3025 era was more ‘balanced’ than the Clan era.

Even though I was burned by IGP on the MWT fiasco, I still think that was a good game, and the Turn Based Strategy genre is underserved.. so, I’m looking forward to this, and will be backing it on KickStarter this fall when it goes up.

10 promotion boxes…

Between the account I use and the account @BigDamn_Heroes uses, a total of 10 promotion boxes were opened today.

We got 2 costume sets… Which means, 0 to sell. 3 Glitterkitty packages… Which means, 1 box to sell. And finally… *drumroll*… A grand total of 5 Snarfelynx mounts! Meaning, 3 for sale… I could finish the main parts of my house with even 50% of 1 of these! So, do we have good luck or bad luck?

Just putting these here in case anyone still needs a SWTOR SDCC Cantina code.. free mount, chance at other random stuff..

  • This crate contains the Prinawe Junction speeder and a random item. This random item could be (all character bound)
  • Dyes (including rare black/black dye)
  • XP boost
  • SP-RO Power Droid
  • Carbonite chamber regen item
  • First Grand Statue of Mandalore.

One from each of my accounts.. should still have plenty of uses left.  Feel free to put your code in the comments to share:

I realize that sounds like clickbait….but, really it’s not.. you can actually win $25,000 playing Marvel Heroes starting tomorrow (July 8th).

According to this post on Comicbook.com there will be 5 “Vibranium tickets” that randomly drop in the game.. each ticket is worth $5,000 of Gazillion’s hard earned money.

Doomsaw confirms it in this thread on the official forums, and goes on to provide a bit of additional information.

  • The Vibranium Ticket can drop anywhere at any level. It’s not affected by any boosts (SIF, RIF, Odin’s Bounty, etc.)
  • Some countries do not participate in contests like this for legal reasons. Nothing we can do about that, but most of the playerbase is covered. (If someone from one of those countries wins, we’ll see what we can legally give to them, if anything, to make them as happy as possible)
  • The money is coming from Marketing’s budget, so no development impact.. just fewer banner ads somewhere.
  • If someone finds a ticket that cannot win money, but are allowed to win something else, they will put the ticket back into the pool and help the person with whatever they can legally get.
  • Tickets will drop starting the 8th (can’t find a time anywhere), and go until all 5 have been ‘claimed’.  So, that could take however long it takes.
  • Anyone who claims a ticket before the Marvel Heroes panel at SDCC will be publicly recognized/announced.

I know what I’m going to be doing the next few days… Now, if only they’d release the Spider-Gwen costume before hand, so I could play as Spider-Gwen while trying to get a $5,000 loot drop.

A message from Phineas T. Rotostar.

Greetings, Nexians. I am Phineas T. Rotostar, CEO of the Protostar(CR) company.

Protostar(CR) would like to inform you that SOME housing plots have become infected by the Strain. The Strain are extremely dangerous, and should be removed from your housing plot. This is, however, sadly impossible, and Protostar(CR) regrets to inform you that you will be doomed to living with the Strain on your house… FOREVER…. Unless a cure is found.

Do not let small children or mammals near the Strain, and do not go near the Strain yourself if you can help it. A small team of Exiles (aproximately 1) is trying to find a cure at this very moment. Protostar(CR) is **NOT** backing this, so do not contact Protostar(CR) with any questions about the cure’s progress.

Protostar(CR) reminds you to visit other’s housing plots, as some are amazing.

——-Yours truly*, Phineas T. Rotostar.

*Phineas T. Rotostar does not actually belong to you.

Wildstar: Exiles or Dominion?

So, which do you guys prefer? The Exiles or the Dominion?

I like the Exiles… I don’t know why, they’re just really cool. Plus if you’re an Exile you get to vist really cool houses like Cindypendence Day’s, CindyLou Who’s, Katia Racer’s (for real, check this one out. You will want to bring your freinds.), and more that I haven’t discovered yet! You also get to be a space zombie… Which, why wouldn’t you want to be? Not to mention the amazing(ly huge) capital city of Thayd.

Well, now it’s your turn people: which do you prefer, and why?
