F2P Restrictions Clarified

BioWare has announced some of the restrictions that will be placed on F2P accounts when SWTOR finishes converting to a F2P model

Here’s a link to a video the team released, going over some of the changes.

Some of the restrictions are:

3 Warzones (Battlegrounds) a week.

3 Races (Human, Zabrak, Cyborg) at Character Creation.

Need to buy a ‘pass’ to equip epic (or better) items

Weekly passes available to unlock Operations/Warzones/etc.

Inability to add the SWTOR Security Key (authenticator) to your account.

Personally, I REALLY disagree with the security key restriction.  BioWare should be pushing for everyone to keep their accounts secure/safe.  The more ‘vulnerable’ accounts there are, the more CS tickets that could get opened due to needing items restored after an account compromise.

BioWare is rewarding players who have maintained a subscription since the F2P announcement was made (and/or if you purchased a collector’s edition of the game, etc).  If you’d like to see how many ‘cartel coins’ you’ve earned so far.. head over to this page.  You’ll have to log into your SWTOR account to see the results, but it’ll look something like this:

Rolling in the dough!

SWTOR patch 1.5 is on the test server now, and has an early version of the Cartel Store in the build.

Not sure how I feel about the F2P restrictions that are being implemented in SWTOR.. doesn’t ‘feel’ right to me, but, we still don’t have all the information, so maybe once they’ve released more information it’ll sit a little better.
