The XL engine will keep the Dragon moving at a decent pace, and having the Large Lasers and the Gauss rifles in the arms, will keep all the weapons using the same targeting reticule, which should make things a little simpler for a novice pilot.<\/p>\n
Putting 100% of the weapons in the arms, does carry the risk of leaving the pilot unable to attack, should their arms get stripped early on in the fight. \u00c2\u00a0To be fair, if a new player is in a fight, and loses both arms, they’re probably not going to be in the fight much longer ;). \u00c2\u00a0I am going to give this loadout a try when it shows up as a Trial ‘Mech next month, so we’ll see how it does.<\/p>\n
Hopefully, this is just the first of this type of community participation event for PGI. \u00c2\u00a0I’m sure it was a lot of work, but, I think it’s good to engage the community this way. \u00c2\u00a0Maybe next time, to ease the work on PGI\/IGP’s staff, they can farm some of the initial gathering work out to the volunteer forum mods, or some other community members (I’d help).<\/p>\n

This past weekend’s competition, was the Heavy ‘Mech challenge… and the results<\/a> are in. We have winners..multiple winners for some categories. \u00c2\u00a0Apparently, there was a glitch with how some games were recorded (or, more accurately, weren’t recorded). \u00c2\u00a0PGI fixed the data, and is awarding prizes to both the ‘original’ winner (Based off what was shown on the leader boards), and the ‘revised’ winner. \u00c2\u00a0Which, is really very cool of them, and shows they want to try and keep these tournaments as fair as possible.
