{"id":479,"date":"2012-03-06T11:08:36","date_gmt":"2012-03-06T18:08:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bigdamnheroes.org\/?p=479"},"modified":"2012-03-06T11:08:36","modified_gmt":"2012-03-06T18:08:36","slug":"guild-summit-stream-part-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.bigdamnheroes.org\/?p=479","title":{"rendered":"Guild Summit Stream&#8230;part 2"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This post will cover the Roleplay, Guild Features, User Interface, and the &#8220;and the rest&#8221; presentations from yesterday&#8217;s livestream of the Star Wars: The Old Republic GuildSummit.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I hope the GuildSummit is a precursor to getting a BioCon to show off TOR, ME, DA, C&amp;C, and anything else BioWare might be working on&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Due to length..panel discussions are after the jump..<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<h1>Roleplaying Discussion<\/h1>\n<blockquote><p>Current State<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">World needs more features<\/p>\n<p>Some of the newly announced Legacy unlocks will be a big help for RP&#8217;ing.<\/p>\n<p>Possible Future stuff:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Chat bubbles (in for Beta..weird problem caused them to be massive performance hit, so took out)<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Character re-customization<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">More Orange gear!\u00c2\u00a0 &#8220;Wear what you want, where you want&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Spawning Tech improvements (the &#8216;filler&#8217; NPCs that appear in areas, but aren&#8217;t clickable\/mouseoverable)<\/p>\n<p>All future chairs will be interactive (more places to sit!)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Daniel Erickson stressed this is one of the areas they are really looking for feedback from the attendees, so they jumped right into Q&amp;A<\/p>\n<h1>Q&amp;A &#8211; RolePlaying<\/h1>\n<ul>\n<li>Q:\u00c2\u00a0 Animal mounts? (dewback, tauntaun, etc)<\/li>\n<li>A:\u00c2\u00a0 On the list, no ETA<\/li>\n<li>Q:\u00c2\u00a0 Clothing not restriced by armor type (i.e heavy armor users can use it &amp; get their bonus, as can light armor users).<\/li>\n<li>Q:\u00c2\u00a0 Male slave outfit?<\/li>\n<li>A:\u00c2\u00a0 It&#8217;s coming<\/li>\n<li>Q:\u00c2\u00a0 Ability to re-use phased class areas?<\/li>\n<li>A:\u00c2\u00a0 No, triggers are complicated..will work on adding more cool areas instead.<\/li>\n<li>Q:\u00c2\u00a0 Stricter name policy enforcement? (Dude of the Bro legacy)<\/li>\n<li>A:\u00c2\u00a0 No, Star Wars universe has some funky names, report obscene.. fair rules really hard to due (what person X thinks is bad, person Y might not).\u00c2\u00a0 Adding more ways to control how much of player nameplates you see.<\/li>\n<li>Q:\u00c2\u00a0 Ambient animations for NPCs could help.\u00c2\u00a0 Guilds want to be able to create squads or other groups within guild<\/li>\n<li>A:\u00c2\u00a0 What could a squad do, that they can&#8217;t currently do with custom chat channels?<\/li>\n<li>Q:\u00c2\u00a0 Copy\/Paste for chat logs?\u00c2\u00a0 Include characters in your Legacy as non-blood related?<\/li>\n<li>A:\u00c2\u00a0 Yes, you can add them as allies, adversaries, step children, etc.. (Think the answer to copy\/paste was a yes as well).<\/li>\n<li>Q:\u00c2\u00a0 Add other players to legacy?<\/li>\n<li>A:\u00c2\u00a0 Yes, but it&#8217;s not going to be soon<\/li>\n<li>Q:\u00c2\u00a0 Emotes with one-liners voiced over from cutscenes?<\/li>\n<li>A:\u00c2\u00a0 More emotes will include dialogue.<\/li>\n<li>Q:\u00c2\u00a0 Companion characters with you on taxis, ability to name your companion?<\/li>\n<li>A:\u00c2\u00a0 Companions originally intended to appear in taxis.. appearance of some of them made it impractical&#8230; no renaming companions.<\/li>\n<li>Q:\u00c2\u00a0 Can ignore turn off the ignored player&#8217;s name plate?<\/li>\n<li>A:\u00c2\u00a0 Good suggestion<\/li>\n<li>Q:\u00c2\u00a0 Remove companions from story?<\/li>\n<li>A:\u00c2\u00a0 In beta..killing companions was fun&#8230;being without a companion to fill a certain role&#8230; not fun.\u00c2\u00a0 Not going to go back down that road.<\/li>\n<li>Q:\u00c2\u00a0 Character bio page?<\/li>\n<li>A: Not technically feasible right now<\/li>\n<li>Q:\u00c2\u00a0 Two person mounts?<\/li>\n<li>A:\u00c2\u00a0 Yes, but not soon.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h1>Guild Features<\/h1>\n<p>Damion Schubert led this discussion<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Guilds are important<\/p>\n<p>Guild UI is functional, but lacking&#8230; team working to improve\/expand guild functionality.<\/p>\n<p>Guild banks coming in 1.2 up to 7 tabs with escalating costs.\u00c2\u00a0 Detailed controls for guild leaders, with logging in case CSRs need to follow up&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Each rank can have different withdrawal capabilities, repair from guild bank.. and a ledger to show how much people are taking out.<\/p>\n<p>most guild features coming post 1.2 (calendar, guild emblems, guild advertising for recruiting)<\/p>\n<p>Guild progression is in the works (guild capital ships)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Another section where feedback is requested of the attendees, so Q&amp;A time!<\/p>\n<h1>Q&amp;A &#8211; defaults&#8230; is actually pretty good so I wanted to see what kind of stuff BioWare has whipped up.<\/p>\n<p>Stephen Reid said more information on the UI changes will be on the website in the coming weeks.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Not everything shown during the presentation will make it into the 1.2 patch, but they wanted to show off what they&#8217;re working on.<\/p>\n<p>Edit Mode &#8211; allows you to move UI elements around.. different colors for always visible UI elements, and for only sometimes visible elements.<\/p>\n<p>Only 4 quickslot bars still.<\/p>\n<p>UI components scalable<\/p>\n<p>Target of Target coming in 1.2<\/p>\n<p>Map Axis can be flipped<\/p>\n<p>Secondary windows can be anywhere..more than one window can be open.<\/p>\n<p>Exportable as XML so all characters can have the same layout<\/p>\n<p>Some Ops frame customization available too<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h1>Q&amp;A &#8211; Coming this year.. expected BioWare type story<\/p>\n<p>New Daily quests in 1.2<\/p>\n<p>Color matching is back!\u00c2\u00a0 Improved version, toggelable by individual piece..defaults to off so you can see what that piece really looks like.\u00c2\u00a0 Not exact matches, but sets up a theme<\/p>\n<p>Even higher quality textures coming for systems that can handle it<\/p>\n<p>Dual spec coming..not in 1.2 &#8211; second part will be gear swap too<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Q&amp;A<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Q:\u00c2\u00a0 Rewards besides XP from quests at 50 (credits..etc..)<\/li>\n<li>A:\u00c2\u00a0 Part of the reason for the Legacy system..so you get XP still, introducing another cash flow has to be considered<\/li>\n<li>Q:\u00c2\u00a0 Huge galactic battle coming in the future?<\/li>\n<li>A:\u00c2\u00a0 PvP team wants to do something like that<\/li>\n<li>Q:\u00c2\u00a0 Nightmare mode mechanics?<\/li>\n<li>A:\u00c2\u00a0 Going to tweak them so it lives up to it&#8217;s name, part of why it&#8217;s not in 1.2<\/li>\n<li>Q:\u00c2\u00a0 Inter-server communication?<\/li>\n<li>A:\u00c2\u00a0 Cross server architecture not in place yet.. being considered..need to limit trash talking<\/li>\n<li>Q:\u00c2\u00a0 Battle Rez for Bounty Hunters and Troopers?<\/li>\n<li>A:\u00c2\u00a0 Never say never..but&#8230; no.<\/li>\n<li>Q:\u00c2\u00a0 Pod racing or swoop racing?<\/li>\n<li>A:\u00c2\u00a0 Focusing on core tools\/functionality first.. no ETA<\/li>\n<li>Q:\u00c2\u00a0 Faction balance?<\/li>\n<li>A:\u00c2\u00a0 Legacy system will help encourage people to try the other faction.\u00c2\u00a0 Can&#8217;t force people to switch..it&#8217;s up to the player to play what they want..their story.\u00c2\u00a0 Maybe character transfers in the future.<\/li>\n<li>Q:\u00c2\u00a0 Encouraging people to switch, can be bad for guilds, your enticing them to leave their guild.<\/li>\n<li>A:\u00c2\u00a0 Looking at adversary\/sister guild relationships.. Legacy shouldn&#8217;t negatively impact community.<\/li>\n<li>Q:\u00c2\u00a0 Which Legacy abilities will be chosen?<\/li>\n<li>A:\u00c2\u00a0 Iconic abilities.. Smuggler can kick a boss in the nuts..
