{"id":1190,"date":"2013-09-13T21:48:29","date_gmt":"2013-09-14T03:48:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bigdamnheroes.org\/?p=1190"},"modified":"2013-09-13T21:48:29","modified_gmt":"2013-09-14T03:48:29","slug":"wingmans-hangar-38","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.bigdamnheroes.org\/?p=1190","title":{"rendered":"WingMan&#8217;s Hangar #38"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It&#8217;s Friday&#8230; which means&#8230;it&#8217;s time for a new Wingman&#8217;s Hangar from the Star Citizen crew!<\/p>\n<p>If you&#8217;re not familiar with the Hangar, it&#8217;s a 30-45ish minute peek into what&#8217;s been going on with Star Citizen development over at CIG this week. \u00c2\u00a0They also use it as an opportunity to respond to feedback from the forums, and tease us with upcoming tidbits.<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s the video:<br \/>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/GMazGEt2uec?rel=0\" height=\"360\" width=\"480\" allowfullscreen=\"\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>So&#8230;yeah.. no idea what the monkey suit was all about.. apparently it was something arranged by another backer&#8230; I think I need to bleach my eyes or something :P<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Monkey suits aside, let&#8217;s take a look at some of the information we got today:<\/p>\n<p>Sandi hinted at an upcoming modding contest&#8230;so, warm up your copy of 3DSMax, and get your ideas primed.. I&#8217;m sure that contest will have some killer prizes. \u00c2\u00a0She also tells us that she&#8217;s already working on plans for CitizenCon for next year (there&#8217;s an invite only gathering in October that was originally supposed to be CitizenCon..but plans changed for this year).<\/p>\n<p>Quick piece of advice Sandi&#8230; nail down the dates ASAP, and get them out to us Citizens.. it&#8217;s way easier for us to make our plans (vacation time, budget, etc..etc..) when we know the dates as early as possible!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Forum Feedback brought us some decent information about Squadron 42 (Questions\/Answers are paraphrased).<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Q: \u00c2\u00a0Where in the Dev process for SQ42 is the team? Mission development yet?<\/p>\n<p>A: \u00c2\u00a0Locking down main storyline, so starting some work on the missions.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Q: \u00c2\u00a0In game ship resales..direct to players, or through 3rd party merchant (auction house?)<\/p>\n<p>A: \u00c2\u00a0Both are possibilities<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Q: \u00c2\u00a0Any details about permadeath, and how SQ42 comes into play for new character?<\/p>\n<p>A: \u00c2\u00a0Citizenship doesn&#8217;t transfer, so SQ42 is a possibility for all characters on an account.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Q: \u00c2\u00a0How will g-forces be implemented?<\/p>\n<p>A: \u00c2\u00a0Gravity system on ship will keep you stable, no getting tossed around like a ragdoll.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Q: \u00c2\u00a0What happens if you&#8217;re out of gas in space?<\/p>\n<p>A: \u00c2\u00a0AAA, maybe covered by insurance, get help from another player, or use your hydrogen scoops.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Q: \u00c2\u00a0Ammo for alien ships like Vanduul scythe?<\/p>\n<p>A: \u00c2\u00a0Probably available from some enterprising merchants.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Q: \u00c2\u00a0Friends come help with multi-crew ships for Dogfighting module?<\/p>\n<p>A: \u00c2\u00a0Probably not initially, but eventually.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Q: \u00c2\u00a0Widgets for our HUD? (Stock, weather, etc.)<\/p>\n<p>A: \u00c2\u00a0Sounds like a good idea, probably have some.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Q: \u00c2\u00a0Will we need insurance during alpha\/beta?<\/p>\n<p>A: \u00c2\u00a0Not alpha, maybe for beta though &#8211; will seek community input.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Q: \u00c2\u00a0Boobytrap your cargo, to give pirates one heck of a surprise?<\/p>\n<p>A: \u00c2\u00a0Undecided, but if you can, there will be scanners to look for it (checks\/balances).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Q: \u00c2\u00a0Steal someone&#8217;s ship while it&#8217;s docked?<\/p>\n<p>A: \u00c2\u00a0Nope, can&#8217;t get into hangar unless invited.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Q: \u00c2\u00a0Is there an airlock on the Freelancer, and what&#8217;s the belly turret since the specs don&#8217;t mention it?<\/p>\n<p>A: \u00c2\u00a0There will be&#8230;.and artwork.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Q: \u00c2\u00a0Can we keep the mini-cutlass that is in the hangar now?<\/p>\n<p>A: \u00c2\u00a0Maybe, if enough people ask.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Q: \u00c2\u00a0Momentum? \u00c2\u00a0Can we crash into a missile we just fired?<\/p>\n<p>A: \u00c2\u00a0No fun.. additive momentum so that won&#8217;t happen.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Q: \u00c2\u00a0Will there be some kind of codex, that players can contribute to?<\/p>\n<p>A: \u00c2\u00a0Galactopedia..and major player events will be in there.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Q: \u00c2\u00a0Can we mask our heat signature by hiding in a nebula?<\/p>\n<p>A: \u00c2\u00a0Might cause other problems, but yes.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>There was also a brief interview with one of the tools guys, who also did the backend work for the launcher (Kyle Rockman). \u00c2\u00a0They addressed the &#8216;peer to peer\/torrent&#8217; patcher. \u00c2\u00a0While the client and backend can handle it..there are some legal issues preventing it currently. \u00c2\u00a0If those are resolved to allow it, they&#8217;ll turn it on.<\/p>\n<p>Eric and Robert are apparently going to be out here in Denver next week, looking at a studio they might contract some work out to. \u00c2\u00a0So, time to find out when they&#8217;ll be here..and see if I can arrange to meet them and say &#8216;hi&#8217;!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It&#8217;s Friday&#8230; which means&#8230;it&#8217;s time for a new Wingman&#8217;s Hangar from the Star Citizen crew!
