{"id":1179,"date":"2013-09-06T23:26:49","date_gmt":"2013-09-07T05:26:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bigdamnheroes.org\/?p=1179"},"modified":"2013-09-09T23:40:51","modified_gmt":"2013-09-10T05:40:51","slug":"voyager-direct-update","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.bigdamnheroes.org\/?p=1179","title":{"rendered":"Voyager Direct Update"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Chris Roberts used the official <a href=\"https:\/\/robertsspaceindustries.com\/comm-link\/transmission\/13249-Letter-From-The-Chairman-18-Million\" target=\"_blank\">announcement<\/a> of Star Citizen crossing the $18 Million mark to follow up on the poll he started about the Voyager Direct store. \u00c2\u00a0Turns out, at least after CR&#8217;s clarification post about the store, 43% of survey respondents said they were satisfied with the store as is. 29% thought that prices were too high (I was one of those). \u00c2\u00a0So, since CR also stated he thought some prices were too high&#8230; we now have lower prices!<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s the pricing changes:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Cot \u00e2\u20ac\u201c\u00c2\u00a0<strong>2,000\u00c2\u00a0UEC<\/strong>\u00c2\u00a0(<em>was 5,000\u00c2\u00a0UEC<\/em>)<\/li>\n<li>RSI\u00c2\u00a0Zeus Model \u00e2\u20ac\u201c\u00c2\u00a0<strong>5,000\u00c2\u00a0UEC<\/strong>\u00c2\u00a0(<em>was 10,000\u00c2\u00a0UEC<\/em>)<\/li>\n<li>Lamp \u00e2\u20ac\u201c\u00c2\u00a0<strong>2,000\u00c2\u00a0UEC<\/strong>\u00c2\u00a0(<em>was 5,000\u00c2\u00a0UEC<\/em>)<\/li>\n<li>Greycat\u00c2\u00a0PTV\u00c2\u00a0\u00e2\u20ac\u201c\u00c2\u00a0<strong>15,000\u00c2\u00a0UEC<\/strong>\u00c2\u00a0(<em>was 20,000\u00c2\u00a0UEC<\/em>)<\/li>\n<li>Posters \u00e2\u20ac\u201c\u00c2\u00a0<strong>1,000\u00c2\u00a0UEC\u00c2\u00a0each<\/strong>\u00c2\u00a0(<em>was 5,000\u00c2\u00a0UEC\u00c2\u00a0each<\/em>)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>What&#8217;s interesting, is that the workbench is not on the list. \u00c2\u00a0Turns out, there is a reason for it. \u00c2\u00a0The workbench, is not purely cosmetic&#8230; that&#8217;s how players will &#8220;over clock&#8221; their own ship components come launch&#8230; so that one is staying priced where it was (10,000 UEC). \u00c2\u00a0I do find it a little odd that the workbench is still in the &#8216;decorations&#8217; category of the VD store, since it will have a non-decorative use..but, maybe they just don&#8217;t have an appropriate category yet.<\/p>\n<p>If you purchased a newly cheaper item, you will be receiving a refund for the difference. \u00c2\u00a0Be patient, I&#8217;d imagine that it will take them a little time to get through that process&#8230;I&#8217;m sure their store wasn&#8217;t setup for refunds, since it was opened as an &#8216;all sales final&#8217; deal.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m much happier with the new prices, I think it puts purely decorative stuff at the right price point &#8211; especially once we get the ability to earn UEC in game. \u00c2\u00a0Chris&#8217; announcement did also touch on the pricing difference between ships now, and their anticipated price in game at launch:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Also you should know that the current \u00e2\u20ac\u0153dollar\u00e2\u20ac\u009d price of a ship does not reflect its actual in-game value in\u00c2\u00a0UEC, so comparing the value of a gun against the\u00c2\u00a0UEC\u00c2\u00a0equivalent of an Aurora is not an accurate comparison. We intended backers to get a benefit for backing early rather than waiting for a finished game and one way was by obtaining ships that ultimately will be more expensive once the game is \u00e2\u20ac\u0153live\u00e2\u20ac\u009d.
