WoW: Remote AH-Review

As of May 25th, all US realms were added to the Beta of the remote AH.

Since then, I’ve spent some time playing with the AH via my iPhone app.  Overall, it’s a nice little perk.. I don’t think it’s worth the 3 bucks a month to use the premium portions of it though.

The 200 transaction a day limit will stop the ‘serious’ AH person from paying for it, because they’re trying to monopolize the market so they’re posting more than 200 items a day.

The ‘lite’ AH user, isn’t going to pay 3 bucks…because they don’t use the Auction House enough to justify the cost.

I do like the ability to access any character (even those that don’t show up on the Armory because they’re below level 10), and see their gold/inventory (technically, you have to start to post an auction to see their inventory, so that won’t work after Beta).  I like being able to see which of my auctions have sold/expired while I’m at work.  It can save me having to log into the Bank alt to check before actually starting to play when I get home.

I don’t like losing Auctioneer’s functionality since the remote AH only shows like 3 of whatever item you’re posting, which makes it hard to determine ‘market’ value, and really, I think so many people have gotten used to Auctioneer’s feature set, that the lack of auctioneer in the remote AH, is probably what’s going to stop alot of people from using it.

I can see some raiders using it, to buy elixirs/flasks/etc before a raid if they’re running late.  But, I can’t really see it catching on and being a ‘must have’ feature.
