Blue Lizard AMA

As mentioned in the press release post about Blue Lizard taking over for Roadhouse as developers for MechWarrior Tactics.. there was an AMA today with Alfred Chaves CEO of BLG.

The link to the AMA is here.  I’m going to go over some of what I think are the better answers provided.

First off.. on the subject of the Unseen/Reseen.. there is a glimmer of hope! When asked about them, based off MWO being able to add some, this was the response:

We have proposed some of them to IGP (the ones that fit the timeline), we just have to make sure we have the rights to do it, with some luck we might see them :)

So, I’m hopeful that we’ll at least get the ones that MWO was able to add.

I’m also glad that there doesn’t appear to be any overhaul of the art style planned (at least, not at the moment).  I know some folks don’t like it..but I like most aspects of it, so I’m glad it’s not going away.

I really like what the previous developers did as far as art style but I do understand that purists might see that the few artistic liberties that RHI took take them away from the original designs. However, I think that as developers we have to take those chances and in this particular case, make everything look more “current”. If we are going to shift art style into a different direction (which I am not sure we will ever do) it would have to be extremely progressive. Improve it, yes, change it for the sake of it? no.

On the subject of patch/updating schedule, it sounds like they’re going to try and update pretty aggressively:

We are building a plan to push updates every 2-3 weeks and I am extremely interested in not resetting accounts anymore as soon as possible. The tricky part is that we are just scratching the surface as far as balancing goes.

All in all, this was a good AMA.. Alfredo answered almost all of the questions he was asked.. would have liked to have seen a few more detailed answers..but, NDA and all that.

I’m hoping we’ll see more of BL on the forums, so they can continue to respond to questions, which will ultimately help calm some of the fears about the transition.
